Future Success
We hope the future of Stepping Stone Support will be evident in the lives of the men and women living in crisis today. Providing coping strategies can foster more productivity and a more comfortable lifestyle. Our goal is to dedicate ourselves to providing essential tools in dealing with the problem. Support is a positive solution to the challenges facing those affected by cancer and infertility. We currently hold support groups at the Stony Brook Cancer Center.
Our Center will offer...
Interactive Support
People in Crisis need to feel comfortable reaching out to those who can offer support. Our center will be led by a caring and professional staff. It will offer a permanent location where members can attend weekly support groups, peer and professionally led, creating a safety net for those in crisis. Members will be able to meet face to face, as opposed to online or via telephone.
Professional Guidance
Members will have an opportunity to meet with a counselor or psychologist before attending a support group. They can choose to meet one on one or as a couple. Members will also have the opportunity to have a consultation with a family law attorney. They'll explore family building options to help decide what's best for them. Upon request, members will receive a referral list of specialists in the area.
Workshops
Our monthly calendar will offer educational and instructional workshops for members, as well as, nonmembers. Workshops will be led by professionals in their field. The workshops are an essential tool in creating physical and emotional balance.
Resource Center
Our resource center will contain information used to explore family building options. It will also consist of up to date books, articles, and magazines. We will provide a relaxed atmosphere for quiet reading and/or research. Members will have use of directories which list specialists, agencies, and helpful websites. They will also have use of computers with unlimited internet access.
